I offer a one to one tailored support for undergraduate and masters students.
I ain to leave you with a unique "Tool Bag" of methods to succeeed yourself, with my enthusuiastic, friendly and experienced approach.
In the words from one of my students :-
Liz came into my university world and showed me how to be organised and stop panicking about ‘the whole picture’ and to break down into capable sectors within the demanding timescales available, supported by a number of techniques that I continue to use – including things such as date tables.
Liz also explained the different formats that the university world expects of me, helping me to understand the context of what I needed to include for what sort of assignment. For example: we would discuss the structure of report, Liz would explain what each section entailed, we would refer back the my learning outcomes, draft out approx. words for each section and then help me improve my writing skills in connection with analytical and reflective skills (something I never considered).
Never did Liz take over the process, her guidance still proved paramount now. I feel that Liz has helped me grow academically, showing support for almost 3 years! Never did I imagine achieving A-levels, let alone an FdA – and through Liz’s support, teaching strategies and assisting in my growth of self-confidence, here I am doing a BA and considering (if I get Liz’s Support) applying for my Masters.
Liz continues to offer specifically tailored support for me and continues to discuss my individual requirements – giving me direction to progress, supporting aimed at developing my study skills. I feel my mentor support sessions aimed at helping my development regarding my organisational skills, manage my workload and the demands of University generally and maintain my focus on academic progress.
With over 18 years of experience working with adults to develop their business plans, 11 years as a lecturer, and 6 years as a one to one study skills support tutor, I love working with students to assist them in developing their own skills for academic success.
I have worked with 60 students and delivered 2000 hours of support in a wide variety of subject areas.
