I believe the class should be built around the students' needs. After finding out what you need and want, I would plan around that. I also believe that the best way to practice a language is practice, practice and practice.
I teach grammar and vocabulary practically. One teaching examples, I would then create activities in which you would practice as if you were in the real world so you would get a real experience as possible. That way it's not only relevant but it's useful.
