I base my classes around a simple three-step process: explain, demonstrate, and practice, making sure everything is crystal clear at every stage.
I believe that maths is largely a skill-based subject, meaning that practice is the most important part of the learning process. By carefully guiding my students through increasingly difficult problems, I find they gain not only a greater understanding of the topic at hand, but also confidence - something which is absolutely essential in exam-like conditions.
I’m an undergraduate medical student who has been tutoring maths for around five years, alongside mentoring students applying to university.
I tutored a GCSE maths student for 2 years, raising her grade from C (predicted) to A (final). I also gave lessons to another GCSE maths student over the course of a summer holiday, and have been giving mock interviews and mentoring students applying to university for the past 2 years.
Last July I also delivered a series of lessons on philosophy to secondary school (mixed GCSE and A-level) students in Athens, so have experience teaching larger groups as well as individuals.
