My philosophy in tutoring is to meet each pupil at the level they are comfortable with and assess, develop and extend their understanding and skills through progressive activities, exploring their interests and motivation, and strengths.
I encourage pupils to get involved in groups and activities that enable them to apply their skills in context in an enjoyable and rewarding way.
I have more than 25 years experience teaching in state primary and middle schools, as well as working for a while as an assistant director of a music service.
I am a multi-instrumentalist specialising in violin, but with experience of teaching woodwind, guitar, keyboard and other band and percussion instruments.
I have also been an academic teacher across the primary age range and am able to offer tutoring to support most primary curriculum subjects.
