Structure of teaching:
- First, establish what you would like to get out of the lessons; what your aims are in terms of exams or just learning music!
- Second, I will suggest the correct books to get (I already have grade 1-5 ABRSM music theory books) - if you do not have these I can scan some copies over to you
- Work through each exercise in the lesson but also set some tasks so we can go through them together in the next lesson
The aim: to pass grade 5 theory as quickly as possible and, hopefully, it will be a fun experience!
I am a flautist and a pianist and attended the Junior Guildhall School of Music for four years. I completed my grade 5 theory test when I was 13 and continued to study Music academically all the way through to A level.
I currently teach a 12-year-old grade 4 music theory with the hope that he will take his grade 5 theory next year so he can progress onto grade 6 oboe ABRSM.
