I tend to tutor via Skype, which involves preparing in advance to ensure my students receive structured lessons. The first session consists of a 'traffic light' system whereby my student considers which topics they are most/least confident in. I then analyse which learning style suits my student best and then design a tutoring programme based on this; every student is individual. My sessions may consist of me teaching using a powerpoint presentation, past exam paper testing, quizzes, student tasks (these vary a lot to ensure high student interaction and engagement).
I have also previously tutored face-to-face but find that tutoring via Skype is an efficient use of time for both the student and myself, and allows me to charge cheaper rates.
I have tutored five students now and have completed both GCSE and AS/A level packages. One of my students now attends medical school after receiving an A grade when she was previously receiving 'D' grades. I have been a tutor for 3 years.
I ideally would prefer to tutor via Skype if possible.
