I tutor during week ends and holidays as I have a full time lecturing job. I tutor students at their own places. If I tutor minors, I want a guardian to be present at the premise during my presence.
I first access the needs of the learner, the examinations they are going to take with which board, how much time they have to prepare for their examination, what grades they want/need to get. Then I advice them how to and how many hours they need to study in my presence and on their own. I also explain them how to practice writing model answers using mark schemes.
I try to tutor giving examples from real life that the learner can see for themselves. I also have plenty of equipment, like multi-meters, data loggers and graphic calculators which I can let the learners to use if needed. I also can show how to use smart phones for data logging and analysis.
I have a PhD in Physics. I have been giving lessons for more that 35 years in India, USA and UK. I have tutored more that 500 students mostly Physics to degree level and Mathematics to A-level. My students have gained qualifications to Graduate (BS/BSc), Post Graduate (MS/MSc) and PhD.
