I teach through discussion, Q+A, direct lectures and applied collaborative exploration and investigation in the classroom, studio and on location. As a humanist tutor I support, challenge and set targets in collaboration with the student(s) . I emphasise the application of theory against professional practice.
After finding my vocation in teaching, I developed my educational profile at Bournemouth and Poole college, Wiltshire College and more recently Bournemouth University. I am an Associate of the Royal Photographic Society and gained my second teaching qualification; the Advanced (HEA) Postgraduate Certificate in Professional Practice, in September 2020.
Pre-degree (introductory and Level 2 and 3) rates are set at £15 per hour with degree rates £17 per hour.

Aside from my teaching/lecturing duties (Level 4, 5 and 6), I was responsible for delivering and managing all aspects of the degree course including validation, curriculum design, quality control, academic due diligence, administration, marketing and enhancing the student experience in accordance with the policies, procedures and framework specifications specified within the Bournemouth University and Wiltshire College partnership programme.

My first teaching placement began in 2003. I providing professional, practical and lecturing support for BA (Hons) Photography students for a semester. In 2004 I was employed by Bournemouth and Poole College to teach BTEC Graphic Design and Photography students. In Sept 2005 I was contracted to teach A- Level Photography for Wiltshire College.
In Sept 07 I was contracted to teach BTEC Art and Design (Extended Diploma – Level 3) and BTEC Foundation Degree Art and Design (Photography) Level 4.
3) Adult Education.
January 2004 : Bournemouth and Poole College;
I taught City and Guilds Level 3 (6924). In 2005, I designed and delivered my own course for the college : “Foundation to Distinction – Associateship and Licentiateship to the Royal Photographic Society”.
September 2006 Wilshire College.
I also taught two new adult education courses – Creative Photography and Portfolio Development and Black and White darkroom photography course.
I am an advanced practitioner of Photoshop (CC) and ‘intermediate’ user of Adobe Lightroom and Capture 0ne image editing software (using both Mac and PC platforms). My Photoshop and Lightroom remit centres around the ‘digital darkroom’ – an essential post production tool essential for modern digital photography.
4) Photography and social care (outside of my main job titles)
Through my employment history I have employed photography as part of my academic and non-academic professional and ethical practice. For example
As far back as 1986, as a Social Work Assistant, I have used photography to build a visual history of a person’s life and identity ( adopted children, children in care and the elderly).
As a lecturer I have used photography to identify and explore difference and diversity – narrative storytelling.
