My Methodology is based on Elizabeth Hawes (my TCM professor's) techniques, plus my own fun exercises (developed over the years) and then adapted for young children, using some Blankenbehler methods.
A typical lesson will start with physical exercises and fun vocal exercises. Then move on to more detailed technical work plus learning repertoire/preparing songs for enjoyment, performance or exams.
I am classically trained but teach all singing styles, especially the foundations of good breathing, sustained breathe control, diction, projection, performance techniques and smart practice techniques.
For my Music Theory lessons, I use fun study books and Past Papers, to help prepare students (of all instruments) for the inevitable Theory requirements. These lessons can also be given online (especially during school holidays) using Video Messaging, such as Skype and WhatsApp.
Having also worked for many years as a Music teacher in Nurseries, I engage well with children and always get very positive feedback from parents and students alike.
I thrive on seeing my students develop and gain confidence and have prepared them for many ABRSM exams (both in Singing and Music Theory) always achieving Merits and Distinctions.
I studied Voice (and Violin) at Trinity College of Music London, graduating with an L.T.C.L.
Over the years, I have enjoyed performing all over the UK and Europe with Choirs, Early Music groups, Opera companies and Jazz bands for Corporate Events, initially fitting gigs around various "day-jobs". I then sung professionally (mostly Opera) for several years and worked as a part-time Music teacher in Montessori Nurseries, before I started teaching privately, 8 years ago.
I am currently available for the after-school/after-work times on Monday to Fridays, to leave my weekends free for other creative interests.
£50 per hour for Singing or Music Theory.
£40 for 45 minute lesson.
Block bookings (for discounted package of lessons) are non-refundable.
My travel costs are already factored in to my fees. I will travel anywhere in London, up to an hour from my home, on public transport.
Any cancellations must, ideally, give 48 hours notice. If less than 24 hours notice, 50% of the fee will be charged, at my discretion. If a lesson is missed because of an emergency, the lesson will be made up, at my discretion and if the timetable allows.
