Rigour, honesty, quality and most of all, encouragement, are the backbone of my teaching methods. I also abide by the Blue Tutors fundamental principle:
"A tutor must elicit response which demonstrates understanding"
My values are as follows:
- I aim to enthuse and empower students to get the best out of their subject - both in terms of results and personal engagement.
- I encourage my students to become independent and confident decision makers, who take responsibility for their studies.
- Lessons always have clear objectives, using goal setting and reviewing to reach defined learning outcomes.
- I ensure that I have a thorough knowledge of the syllabus and examination criteria.
- I am attentive and enthusiastic in my lessons, creating a relaxed space where exploration and creativity can flourish.
I am an experienced Tutor, specialising in Art and English. I have taught in Secondary and Further Education settings, and with private clients from GCSE up to MA level.
I have been a Private Tutor with Blue Tutors since 2007, working one to one with students from GCSE to Masters level, in and around London. I was awarded a Professional Tutoring Certificate by Tutoring Standards in 2017, and passed with Merit. I have been working in the Cardiff area through Cardiff and Vale Tutors since January 2019.
I have been a Visiting Artist at various art schools, giving presentations about my work and studio tutorials. In 2017 I was a Visiting Lecturer at the Arts University Bournemouth, where I delivered Art Theory lectures on the Foundation course.
As an Artist, I specialise in sculpture and drawing. I make collaborations with like-minded people and organisations, and run educational skill-based workshops.
I am currently completing a Level 3 Personal Training qualification, and love fitness activities, especially Martial Arts.
I also have over a decade of experience working in Galleries and Museums as a Registrar, having begun my career in Fine Art shipping in 2006.

We booked Lucy for a drawing lesson for my 12 year old daughter who wanted to improve her skills and were so happy with Lucy that we have now booked her for a regular small group private Art class for my daughter and a small group of other children. Lucy is very professional and brought everything for the class along. She has years of experience as an art and English tutor and we will probably use her for English as well.
I cannot recommend Lucy highly enough! She has all the prerequisite skills of a great tutor, being totally reliable, organised, knowledgeable and patient, but in addition to this, she is highly empathetic and insightful and able to adapt her work methods and approach to the specific and complex difficulties that my daughter faces. Lucy is an excellent communicator and regularly provides invaluable, extremely thorough feedback. No matter what the challenges are, Lucy remains calm and positive, and gently encourages my daughter to produce her best work. Since my daughter has been working with Lucy, both her motivation for her subject and her self-confidence have increased considerably.
Lucy is a fabulous art tutor, encouraging exploration of different media and reflection on process.
I was Lucy's tutor at The Ruskin School of Art Oxford University & have followed her career since
