I have taught extensively in both in-person and online settings, and fully appreciate the similarities, differences and demands of both.
I have always placed a premium on the quality of my teaching. This involves recognising that more is required than subject matter expertise. Quality teaching is an equal relationship between knowledge, communication skills, and interpersonal rapport.
I have seven years of experience teaching and mentoring at university level in a wide variety of subjects. These include Research, Methodology and Study Skills, Dissertation Supervision, Politics, International Relations, Strategic Studies, History, Sociology and Philosophy. I have also worked on the University of Aberdeen's 'Access to Degree Studies' program, which involved helping people back into education after a long hiatus.

His dynamism will make you enjoy geopolitics and learn a lot.
David is an amazing tutor who assisted me during my dissertation. His approach was tailored to the subject and he explained the process clearly. I was researching a difficult aspect of history and his assistance was key to my achieving a 2:1.
David was my professor for two years and I have only great things to say about him. He is an amazing professor! You can tell immediately that David is passionate about the subject, as well as helping students learn and do well - always bringing his passion into his teaching. He is extremely knowledgeable, and all his classes were engaging and comprehensive. David became a mentor to me and not only supported me through the final years of my undergraduate degree but thanks to him I solidified my deep interest in the field and decided to pursue my master's degree in a related subject.
Dr. Walsh has an excellent understanding of contemporary geopolitics and international relations. The teaching is easy to follow and he manages to explain a wide range of concepts in a clear and concise manner. If you are interested in contemporary security issues or geopolitics, I would highly recommend Dr. Walsh.
David is encouraging and supportive to his students, actively tries to foster insightful conversations, and gets you thinking outside of the box! He is invested in his students' learning and has incredible interpersonal skills, making it very easy to get along with him. It was a pleasure to be taught by him during my undergrad and I most value the group discussions we had!
David is an excellent tutor. He is passionate and enthusiastic about geopolitics, and this translates so much into his teaching. It’s really motivating. He is really knowledgable, but also friendly and easy to get along with. He is understanding and is able to explain complicated concepts in easy to digest ways. He is a great listener and very patient too, and this meant I felt very comfortable asking lots of questions. I can’t recommend David enough as a tutor.
I was lucky to have David as my supervisor for my undergraduate dissertation. David communicates his knowledge thoroughly, patiently, and, most of all, passionately, throughout. His guidance helped me reach my academic goals and his positive attitude kept me motivated throughout.
