In my role as a WP Tutor I attend the school where the child attends personally and liaise with their teachers and module leaders to ensure that I provide them with the accurate school syllabus, I currently do this at two schools in London, one in Hackney and one in Farringdon. In each school I work with around 6-8 children twice a week to support them in their Maths and English, depending on the child and their specific learning style I tailor my lessons accordingly whether they be a visual, audio or written learner to ensure that they get the most from these sessions. I have been trained to tutor adequately for children with dyslexia and dyscalculia as well as how to handle children with challenging behaviour. I do not consider this so much as a 'job' but something that is really enjoyable and I always make sure that the children and learning in a fun and pro-active way.
I am a final year law student with experience in Maths and English tutoring. I am currently an employee at Widening Participation tutoring services which provide additional help to school children (ranging from ages 7-16) who may at a disadvantage for whatever reason. 3

Although my employment history is not strictly legal related I believe that it has enriched me greatly and has allowed me to become a much more well rounded person. My first three jobs were primarily dealing with members of the public, obviously this was in a much different capacity than dealing with clients on a legal basis however I believe it has allowed me to understand human behaviour greatly and therefore I know how to act, respond and communicate with members of the public in a professional manner.
My current job requires me to act in a more professional manner as it involves working with children, ranging from 11 years to 16 years tutoring the English. I take this very seriously as I am in part responsible for a child’s education, so naturally I ensure that I constantly work in a professional manner and tutor to the absolute best of my ability. Furthermore, whilst it is important that I am professional I also ensure that I am approachable and that the children feel comfortable. This mixture of professional attitude and approachability has enriched me greatly.

Over the past eight months I have been professionally ‘mentored’ by an Associate at Allen and Overy. I feel very lucky to be mentored by an associate of such a respected firm so I have always acted upon their advice whenever it has been given. The mentoring scheme focused very much on my legal career, where I want to end up, and how I intend to get there and everything in between. As a result of this mentoring I feel very at home in a fast paced legal environment and prepared for legal work.

Earlier this year I applied for a very competitive Study Abroad scheme and was lucky enough to be successful. The scheme was ran by the Common Purpose Charity, this charity aims to develop young people into successful leaders and create cultural bridges between countries. As such, the scheme has very much enriched my cultural intelligence and has definitely improved my leadership skills and has equipped me for my professional career.
