I am an undergraduate final year student who studies English Language. I give support lessons to a family friend who is currently preparing for his GCSES. I also do work experience in a secondary school helping support pupils in their English lessons. My techniques for teaching is to plan lessons ensuring I am covering the relevant content within the time frame specified. I strive to meet the needs of the learner so it is important to me from the beginning to know the requirements of the learner, and what they hope to gain from my lessons. As a tutor I adopt a friendly approach but at the same time I implement a regiment approach to ensure the aims of each lesson are being achieved.
I only have one student that I help once a week in my personal time. I have been doing this for a month now. As previously mentioned, I am currently participating in some work experience at a secondary school helping underachieving students in English.
I have not obtained my degree yet as I do not finish until May 2017.
I have an Access Diploma which I passed with merits and distinctions, literary studies was one of my modules which I obtained a merit in. I studied eleven GCSES, including Maths, English and Science and I got B's in both English literature and language.
I am currently undertaking some work experience at a secondary school in Bridgend, giving support in English lessons. I also help a family friend with English GCSE preparation.
