I graduated from the University of Oxford with a First-Class Honours degree in English Language and Literature and have been tutoring for the last 4 years. I teach English for the 7+, 11+, 13+, GCSE, A-level, IB, and Oxbridge admissions prep.
When tutoring for public exams, I tailor my English lessons to the components of the exam that my students struggle with the most, while still striving to build a strong foundation in reading, writing, comprehension and verbal reasoning that will serve them well in secondary school and later study. I always create a preparation plan with my students and continuously adapt lessons to target weaknesses.
I have been a private tutor for the last 4 years, specialising in tutoring the 11+ and 13+. Though I specialise in English, I have had success tutoring Chemistry, Biology, Physics, Italian, and French, and can also tutor Geography and History of Art upon request. I have adapted most of my teaching to be online over the last 6 months due to the increased software possibilities, and its heightened ability to engage students, something that has come to be rather useful given the current pandemic. I count the following among the quantitative successes my clients have achieved over the last few years:
- Common entrance prep (11+) leading to entrance to Latymer Upper School (1 year, 2017)
- A predicted grade of 9 in GCSE Chemistry (raised from a 2) (6 months, October 2019 - March 2020)
- 9 in GCSE Chemistry and 9 in GCSE Biology (all taught online) (3 months intensive - February 2019- April 2019)
- Oxbridge and Interview Prep leading to entrance to Oxford University (LMH, for English, 6 months, 2018)
However, I think one of the most important facets of tutoring can't be measured through results: helping students gain confidence and change their own self-perceptions to ensure long-term academic and professional success. I am also interested in teaching in a more holistic sense, so please let me know if there is a specific educational plan you would like me to follow, or whether you would like an interdisciplinary approach where each lesson is adapted to whatever subject your child is struggling with that week.

Perfect! Elena has been helping our son catch up with the Year 5 and Year 6 syllabus as he slipped behind due to Covid disruption. She is a superb tutor who puts a lot of care and attention into each individual student. My son's teachers have all remarked on how much he has improved over the last few months, which is all down to Elena's teaching.
Elena tutored me for my English Literature A-Level - with her help I moved from a B grade to an A* grade, and was able to get my offer for university. She is a great teacher and I would highly recommend her.
With Elena’s help, my daughter was able to secure a place at LMH College, Oxford, to study English. She is a dedicated, inspiring tutor that helped with all aspects of the process and helped m daughter feel confident going into interview. I highly recommend her.
Elena Casale has been tutoring our 16 year-old daughter at our home for 6 months.
We have been incredibly impressed by every aspect of her work - our daughter adores her and has been helped by her in several different subjects, including Chemistry and French.
Elena is very good at identifying exactly what our daughter is struggling with and explaining it to her methodically so she can understand it completely. She took her from a Grade 2 to a Grade 9 in Chemistry because Elena understands how our daughter's particular revision method works and also makes sure, every time, that she remembers everything she has been taught in that session. Our daughter says that Elena is also very patient and understanding when she is confused.
We highly recommend her.
Elena has been teaching my child for 11+ English and I must say that she is a very professional, patient and very good at keeping you engaged with the lessons and learning. She tailors each tutorial to suit my child's learning style, and he really liked it. There is definitely a noticeable improvement in English.
I would highly recommend her to anyone looking for an excellent English tutor.
