My approach is student led, where depending on the needs of the student, beginning with a short conversation about what they would like to get out of tuition and how best I can help them achieve that. The aim is to create a safe, relaxed, and stimulating space where students feel motivated to do their best work and comfortable enough to make mistakes.
But most importantly, I aim to bring seemingly dry, academic material to life.
I have a First Class Honours degree in Philosophy from the University of London, and over three years’ experience in education and over five years in the arts as a professional actor and writer. I mainly tutor Philosophy, Ethics, and Religious Studies (specialising in Christianity) up to further education, as well as English and Maths for Key Stages 1, 2 and 3. I have worked as a teaching assistant and learning support assistant across various North London schools, supporting the learning of students with different special educational needs and abilities with their reading, writing, numeracy, and speech and verbal communication skills. In total, I have clocked over 200 hours teaching and tutoring experience over the last three years.
I also design and deliver workshops in poetry, creative writing, performance, public speaking, and theatre for people of all ages, abilities, and educational backgrounds. Most recently, I delivered a workshop at the Wellcome Collection linking stage magic and spoken word, and receive consistently positive feedback from students, peers, and employers alike.
