I am currently an International Business uni student studying and living in Manchester. I have previously lived and studied in Warrington, Blackpool and overseas in Asia (Brunei, Singapore). I got mostly A's and A*'s for my GCSE's and got an high grade A in Maths.
I would say I'm a very down to earth person but I take education seriously and teaching has always been a passion. I always ensure my students are having fun when they are learning too- this helps build confidence and motivation. I also try to be more creative and make lessons less stressful but always stick to lesson objectives and outcomes.
I teach with the GCSE and primary syllabus, along with good daily maths exercises which can vary depending on the pupil and what they aim for, exam related material, revision guides and online resources. I preferably like one to one tutoring but wouldn't mind online webcam tutoring if there is an instance of not being able to meet.
My lessons tend to be relaxed but I ensure students go through questions at the start of lessons to help gear them in the right mindset, reminding them on the topic, what needs to be focused on (e.g. Weaker topics) and to establish which topics are already manageable and done well with confidence. Then we will go through with the lesson and start with a couple of maths exercises and a few exam questions, ending it off with extra help which could be for homework, revision tips etc. From there we can decide on which topics need more focus and which don't.
I offer 1 hour sessions or 1hr 30min sessions (students going closer to exams) and there is always a 10-15min break inbetween depending on the length of the lesson.
I am also happy to help with home work as well but I will not do the actual homework, I can only help guide and teach pupils.
As a tutor I am very out going and have a good listening ear. I enjoy meeting new people and get along well with all sorts of people from different ages, races and backgrounds. I am very patient and attentive. This way I am able to help those who may be slower learners, to enable them to learn correctly in a comfertable and effective manner which suits them best.
I used to teach part time as a nursery kidergarten teacher, as a well a primary school teacher overseas during my holiday breaks and for my Duke Of Edinburgh where I taught in villages of Borneo Maths and English.
I also help tutor friends of family with GCSE material and most of them have been happy with their results and have either improved or passed their test/exam. I would really like to broaden this field hence why I am open to teaching GCSE maths, but also mainly because I enjoy teaching and believe that learning should be fun and not stressful!
