Methodology

I am a French native speaker with over 20 years experience of teaching students of all age groups in schools, colleges, companies, university and on a one-to-one basis in the UK and Australia .

- Which subject(s) do you teach?

I teach French at all levels, from beginners to advanced (fluent speakers). I also teach English as a Foreign Language.

- Tell me about your qualifications.

I have an honours degree in Japanese and International Relations (Paris), a PGCE from Greenwich University, and two language teaching qualifications from International House, London; one in Teaching French as a Foreign Language and a CELTA, Teaching English as a Foreign Language. I am also a qualified translator (NAATI – Australia)

- How much do you charge?

The fees mentioned apply to lessons given at my home. Teaching in a different location (student's home) will incur a small additional fee, to be agreed with the student.
Group lessons are also possible. The fee would remain the same for the session, divided by the number of students

- Where do you teach?

When not teaching in an organization, I normally teach from home, in Kingston upon Thames, about 15 minutes walk from Kingston Town Centre, on the 371 bus route, but I am willing to visit students at home within a radius of up to 5 miles.

- When are you available?

My work schedule varies depending on the times of my university lectures, adult college courses and schools where I teach. However, I am very flexible and can generally find a mutually suitable time between myself and the student (s) without any problem.

- Which ages and levels do you teach?

I teach all age groups, usually from age 11 and up. My main experience is working with 16 year olds and above (up to 70+). However, I have also worked with younger children. I teach Beginners, GCSE, AS and A-level and the so-called French Circle, the level for the very advanced students with near-native speaker's knowledge of French.

- Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?

French GCSE, AS and A-level and university examinations. I also coach for the International Baccalaureate in French.

- Describe your arrangements for online tutoring.

I prefer to work with my students face-to-face. It is an essential part of communication and therefore language learning. However, if the students travel or are unable to attend a lesson, I am more than happy to work also through emails or on Skype.

- Do you have a personal message for students?

I am passionate about discovering other countries, cultures and ways of life. Learning another language is a gateway to a better and deeper understanding of other people and countries. It broadens our appreciation of this increasingly multicultural world we live in and enriches our experiences. It is also a valuable asset on a CV.
