I have been a tutor at Kip McGrath for four years and have been a secondary teacher of first up to sixth years for ten years of my life retiring in 2010. Since then I have helped my granddaughter who has cerebral palsy. I feel motivated to help those who need extra support for whatever reason that they have found their education compromised. Also I love tutoring on a one to one basis as you can literally see the progress being made. As I have a friendly positive personality I feel that I can make students feel at ease immediately.
I used to teach in the eighties but left to bring up my family. In the twenty first century I reinvented myself starting with private tutoring and finally securing a permanent teaching post for four years. My knowledge of handling people with disabilities makes me very approachable and inclusive.
I have an Honours degree in English and a teaching qualification from Moray House. Even though I have retired I spend my evenings with my thirty one year old daughter and my granddaughter who has cerebral palsy so I feel that I am still very much in touch with modern trends but also endowed with life experience.
