We aren't in a building. All our tutoring is done online, using an advanced teaching platform. You will have your own virtual classroom with whiteboard, document swapping and audio and video links. What will you need? A peaceful place to work, a PC or Mac with a simple headset (to reduce feedback noise), a Skype address and a reliable net connection.
Parents are encouraged to observe or join in as they wish. When we exchange emails or messages directly with students we always copy parents in.
Some students find they don't like working online - I've known two - so you only pay for the first tutorial if you decide to continue. After that we will ask you to pay for the next four tutorials in advance.
- Ages and Levels Covered
Learning Is Good is a young business. At the moment we offer only GCSE, A Level and IB in a small number of subjects. We may not have what you want yet, but watch this space.
- Opening Times
As online tutors we are seconds away whether you are in Stratford, Southamprton or Singapore. Please discuss days and times with your tutor.
- Tuition Fees
Your tutor will charge fees in the range of £45 to £60 per hour
- Centre Director(s)
After reading History at Oxford, Francis Cubitt went into construction project management and was developing very large energy projects in S-E Asia when the 1997-8 credit crunch there encouraged a career change.
He re-trained, becoming a Qualified Teacher in 2001. He taught Business Studies and Economics for 14 years, and has advised many VI formers on University entrance. He is an A Level examiner for AQA and OCR exam boards.
Francis started online tutoring 'pro bono', teaching a complete AS course to a student who had become too ill to attend school. He now tutors full time, with students located both nearby and as far away as Dubai and Malaysia. He and all Learning Is Good tutors also offer some free tuition to students who cannot afford the fees.
Believing that exam success demands not only subject knowledge and ability but also a thorough understanding and experience of examination technique he has chosen to tutor only his specialist subjects, Business and Economics. All Learning Is Good tutors uphold the same very high standards.
Every student is different. You may be at school but want to improve your exam grades. You may be home-schooled and want to follow a complete course. Our first job is to find out what you want and work out how best to go about it.
