I have always adopted a friendly attitude with my students (no matter the age), always trying to keep them interested and active. In fact, I believe in tutoring because it is a way to learn differently than in school for instance, and to take the time to understand and succeed in whatever was challenging us. For example, in a conversation class the object of the lesson would be a Gainsbourg song. First of all, the student and the teacher would read it, being careful of the pronunciation. Then, make the student resume what he understood of the song, in French. And after, maybe translate the document, little by little, doing short recaps of some grammar rule (and then talk about it more in-depth at the next lesson), and pointing at him all the "french expression", maybe their history, so he can actively learn about them. Finally, both student and teacher will talk about the song it itself, trying to underline its political or poetical content.
I have done a lot of tutoring these last past years, back in Paris, where I used to live until this year. I would tutor primary school children as well as middle or high school levels. I have also been tutoring not only for school but extra-scholars subjects such as music (music theory and instrument). Since I am franco-italian and speak both languages as my mother language, I feel completely comfortable teaching in English, in French or Italian. Indeed, I regularly give French and Italian lessons to Beginners, Intermediate and Advanced.
