With students working toward exams, I tend to focus on exam skill practice. We work on past papers and I show students the most efficient ways to revise for the different elements of the wide range of exams. Often students move out of Key Stage 3 without the grasp of grammar and vocabulary needed to succeed at a higher level, I will always spend time ensuring that students are happy manipulating the various structures and tenses through exercises and games.
With younger students my approach is based more on games and conversation practice, building up their wider language skills so that they have an excellent head start and an extensive range of vocabulary when they move on to studying languages more formally in their schools.
This is my fifth year of teaching, and I have taught both French and Spanish from KS2 - KS5. I have experience teaching to both the AQA and the Edexcel GCSE syllabuses, and the AQA A Level. I have also tutored students privately over the course of this time and last year helped one of my students improve their GCSE mock grade from a Level 3 to a Level 8 in her final exam.
