Bonjour Glasgow !
I am happy to be a citizen of this wonderful city, and building a french bookstore/café here. I am now teaching French to students in Glasgow for a year, before that, I used to do English tutoring to french-speaking pupils, and I am really happy to embrace it both ways nowadays.
The method is simple : after analysing your level, your requests, and what you target to train in order to reach your own goals, i work on a specific theme for an-hour lesson, and gather around the subject an approach of grammar, syntax, spelling, vocabulary, mixed up with civilisation through press, literature, movies, radio podcasts, games to still have an entertaining way to learn. For every lesson, the topic changes, and then up to you to tell me what you prefer to study for the next lesson, depending on your program.
We can also work on a conversation exchange, bilateral translations, or role play if you prefer, as you already learnt the basics, but your point is to practice french more regularly and being able to lead a conversation while travelling in the future in french-speaking countries.
Let's adapt the program to have a nice moment while learning !
Most of my experiences as a private teacher were as a student job : i have taught English to kids with a french institution named "Cours Legendre", also as a homework assistant during 3 years.
I worked in Kenya as well, during 2 months as a teacher, in a class of 45 pupils.
Since September 2019, I have started to do tutoring with 2 students who were in final year at Strathclyde University in Languages, I also teach weekly two other students for their personal achievement.
I have first graduated in Book Industry (specialization in Bookshop), then did a bachelor in English and Communication, and did my dissertation in Master (Information and Communication) on the building of the Scottish identity.
Being a teacher was to sustain my studies, as a bookseller i always wanted to transmit knowledge, literature and build concepts. Mastering another language gives new possibilities and another perspective on the world seing. Before coming to Scotland i have been manager of the children section in a Belgian bookshop and i established a Story Time, which was also based on themes.
I used to adapt my way of teaching, depending on the character and the knowledge of the student.
Perfect! Aurore is very easy going, always happy to help with anything I ask and also makes me feel very at ease if I make a mistake or I don't understand anything. I'm really enjoying the classes with her and I definitely feel my french is improving :)
Hannah is a wonderful student, with already a good level in French, she decided to strengthen her knowledge in order to reach success for her final exams, we are working on it.
I am happy to realise that we only speak in French during courses lately, she does great progress in communication. I wish her the best for this year!!
Aurore is a great french tutor. Every week she prepares different activities for us to do to ensure I get to practice speaking, listening and writing. She is friendly and makes the lessons fun and engaging - which is the best way to learn a language! 10/10 would recommend!
Aurore tutored me this year during my final year of university studying French. She was a fantastic teacher who significantly helped me with written translation exercises, oral interpretation and presentation. Aurore was always encouraging and extremely helpful including outside our lessons. For example, making tailored exercises, creating vocabulary lists, marking my work, researching areas for my oral presentation. I would not have managed this final year without her!
