My teaching method has no secret, I treat every of my student differently. I do not believe in the existence of one singular method that can be applied, or forced, on every student since they are all unique. Each can study at their pace, but of course my job is mainly to motivate them in improving in the most efficient way. Whether it is a beginner, to whom I will teach solid basics, or an advanced speaker to whom I will perfect their skills to possibly study or work in a French speaking country, I am ready for any challenge!
It is a saying that French is one of the most complex language, yet I do think nothing is impossible. My lessons are given in French, from the beginning till the end of the course, except when the student struggles or we are working on a specific point such as conjugaison. The structure is rather simple. Regarding the level of the student in French, I will start with the basics (introducing himself/herself, putting him/her into different daily situations, ...) then progress into understanding the grammar, conjugaison, vocabulary and further more such as the culture or for instance the literature. Every lesson is far from boring since I prefer immersing the student in a practical example, most of all when it comes to learning some theory. At the end of the class, the student will be able to practice concretely what he learned without difficulties, I can assure.
Finally, as a tutor I can affirm that I am far from being bossy or strict. I prefer to install a bond of mutual trust with my student where he/she understands what is at stake. Therefore, making the lesson a pleasant moment for him/her is a must for me. No one enjoys a boring class after all. But I do take at heart that my student gets a complete teaching, meaning he/she can be assured to improve in French (comprehension, writing, and of course getting a French accent!)
Born in Paris, France, I studied law at Pantheon-Sorbonne University (LLB and Master's Degree in International Commercial Law) and decided to come to Swansea to enroll in an International Maritime LLM program. Despite being raised in France, I lived 4 years in the UK when I was younger, therefore English is also considered as my mother-tongue. So far, I have given occasional lessons within 6 years and taught IT lessons applied to economic purposes at the University Paris Pantheon Sorbonne to at least 3 classes of 30 students each. The lessons I gave had for results that all of my students passed their exams. For the particular subject of French, two students had 15/20 on their A-level. But I also taught to younger ones according to their programs, and they had achieved a 18/20 at the end of the year.
Excellent! Aurelia is a great tutor. She has introduced me to the essential verbs that I need for conversational French. She plans interesting tasks. And my confidence has grown and this is due to Aurelia’s supportive way as a tutor. I would highly recommend her.
