Hi! I am a second year medical student who has been informally tutoring secondary school students with science subjects including biology. Being a student myself, I am able to connect well with other students and adjust teaching and communication accordingly. Due to my medical studies, I am very familiar with biological topics. I achieved an A grade from GCSE and A grade from A level.
I am a hard working, focused and disciplined university student at the University of Leeds. I am studying Medicine and completing my second year. Currently, during my medical training, my communication, time management and organisational skills have thoroughly developed through different opportunities. My communication and teaching skills have developed and been put into practice during peer teaching sessions we have where medical students teach different areas of the curriculum to each other as revision. Additionally, I am part of my univeristy’s WAMS society (Widening Access to Medical School). This involves myself visiting secondary schools and teaching sixth form students who are interested in medicine, about medical ethics and about the application process into medicine. These teaching opportunities have improved my communications and teaching skills where I am able to effectively delivery information, project my voice and provide support and comfort to those who I teach.
As a medical student social skills are a vital quality of which is expected of us. Therefore in the past I have volunteered at a Dementia Care Home as a Dementia Ambassador where I supported vulnerable and isolated elderly people through friendly conversation and personal assistance. Additionally I volunteered at a school called Angel Eyes in my home town, which is a school for the visually impaired. There, my role involved supporting and guiding the children through physical activities and games during weekend classes.
I achieved an A grade in GCSE biology and an A grade in A level biology. With the addition of my medical studies, I have a strong understanding of biological topics and I feel confident that I can teach biology and provide the support needed.
I have known Selin for almost a year now and she has amazing communication skills! Selin is an extremely patient and smart teacher. She is very friendly and will talk you through difficult concepts in a simple and easy manner. She is a medical student who has consolidated knowledge in biology and will definitely help you to understand the subject. I would recommend her highly!!!
Selin is the most amazing tutor I have ever had. She is really patient and focuses her teaching around the student. Based on thier concerns, she tailors sessions to target any areas students struggle in. Thank you very much Selin!
