Every student is different so I try to adapt to different learning styles. Sometimes I will focus on a specific area a student struggles with but other times I will use a textbook structure and start from the beginning. I first try to quickly assess what a student already knows on a given subject and then i will help them to fill in the gaps so that they can gain a more rounded knowledge. I make use of my mini whiteboard for practice and diagrams. I like to draw on real life examples where possible and use other memory techniques to help them remember what they have learned. Then we will do practice questions to reinforce that knowledge and in the next lesson i will quickly test them on the subject again before moving on to a new topic; I find this to be very effective.
I started maths tutoring in June 2014 while studying for my A-levels, including maths for which i achieved a B grade in June 2016, and since then alongside various other employment. I am now looking to expand this business. I have tutored 10 students and have a 100% pass rate at GCSE.
