About the lesson
I have always loved teaching Maths. In school, I was the `Maths Co-ordinator` or `Maths Leader` and I am also a `Grade A` Key Stage 2 SATS Exam Marker. I have a lot of experience of preparing children for the SATS (the end of Key Stage tests).
Many children find Maths difficult - this is where I can help. I am highly skilled at identifying gaps in learning and misconceptions. I am also able to explain complex concepts in ways which are easy to understand. This results in my tutees making accelerated progress.
Maths is taught differently in Primary Schools compared to Secondary Schools. Being trained in Primary Education means that I teach in ways which are suited specifically to children in years 1 to 6. I also bring with me a large bag of fun, interactive Maths equipment which children love to handle and engage with. This really cements their understanding of otherwise abstract concepts.
I follow the latest National Curriculum and Government initiatives and I invest heavily in the most up-to-date teaching resources which include the high-quality, hands-on resources for Key Stage 1 upwards. In addition, brand new workbooks are ordered in whenever they are required at no extra cost to the parent or carer. I select the workbooks from an excellent range covering all Programmes of Study from Foundation Stage all the way through to year 6.
For children in year 2 or year 6, I also offer SAT preparation which includes the completion of test papers.
I travel to your home and bring everything with me. All I require is a well-lit table with chairs. I politely request that for hygiene reasons, children do not eat during my lessons because they will be handling equipment.
Please feel free to contact me for further information.
Qualified since 2003 BSc(Hons), Primary PGCE
Over the years I have successfully taught children in all subjects in both Key Stage 1 (years 1 and 2) and Key Stage 2 (years 3,4,5 and 6) in schools in Leicester (whilst training); Peterborough (St Botolph`s C of E Primary School); Skegness (Skegness Junior Academy); and Louth (St Michael`s C of E Primary School).
I provide a high-quality, all-inclusive, professional service specialising in private one-to-one lessons in Maths (Year 1 to Year 6) and 11+ (Year 3 to Year 6). I have a proven track record of success and the vast majority of enquiries result from word of mouth recommendations. I am also the recommended tutor for pupils attending the Edward Richardson Primary School in Tetford.
Unlike classroom teaching, private tuition is purely centred around the needs of the individual and as a result can produce amazing results. I love to help children gain confidence through their increased understanding. Nothing is more satisfying than seeing a child improve and progress.
