Fully qualified, experienced secondary school English teacher, with compassionate student centred approach.

Methodology

My focus is to get to know my student and discover what they need to know, and how they prefer to learn it. This usually involves completing a phone based consultation prior to a face to face lesson in order to understand my student's needs. At all time, the focus of my approach is to bring kindness and compassion to the learning process.

Experience

I am a fully qualified, DBS checked teacher of Secondary English Language and Literature. I have been teaching for 6 years, tutoring for 8 and employed in education for 9 years.

I have taught students in a range of contexts, including those preparing for GCSE or A-Level English courses to older learners whoa re learning English as a second language, those preparing for university entry exams.

Emily's CV

CV: FEBRUARY 2020

SUMMARY
Since first entering the education sector in 2013, I have held positions in curriculum leadership, team leadership, teaching and learning, teacher support and development, behaviour management, and classroom practice, as well as gaining an insight into the creation and implementation of wider school policies and routines through my role as a union representative.
This wide scope of experience has allowed me to develop a personal passion for the transformative power of education. I have developed a learner centred approach to pedagogy, learning and teaching, which has subsequently led to an appreciation of the need for good leadership, policy and structures in schools in order to provide learners with the basis for lifelong success. This interest drew me to completing my master’s degree in Educational leadership, during which I specialised in the role of Teacher Training in developing leadership skills in the classroom, and the role of school leaders in promoting teacher and student wellbeing.
