Developing a love of languages is the core of what I do, and I love to teach 21st-century learners in innovative and relatable ways. As a skilled and experienced teacher, I know what it takes to get you the top grades you want in your exams or just to develop a love for learning a language. My lessons include a range of authentic and engaging materials to practice the 4 key skills of language learning: listening, reading, speaking and writing. As a forward-thinking teacher, I have a wealth of experience using different software applications that will ensure you practice your learning interactively, all delivered authentically in the target language. We will develop your language skills creatively using phonics, music, films, literature and relevant and up to date articles, as well as having the chance to practice your grammar in a manageable way. I believe every person has the right to feel like an individual, therefore my teaching is catered to personalised needs, strengths and interests. I know that becoming proficient in a language can allow us to discover more about ourselves as a person. It’s also important for me to show those that I teach that I am human and to foster an open and secure learning environment where you can share ideas, make mistakes and take risks. So, if you want to develop your Spanish in a safe and enjoyable way, please feel free to get in touch with me!
I am a qualified French and Spanish secondary school teacher and Head of Department with experience of working with students from year 7 to year 13. I have also taught several adults from beginners level. My 10 years of working as a teacher has taught me that no person is the same and this makes me love my job even more. My passion is traveling and immersing myself in different cultures and I use this love of discovery to encourage those who I teach to use their language skills in a real world setting. I have travelled extensively around South America, where I was able to develop my skills in Spanish and heighten my cultural awareness of Latin American countries.
I have led and managed several languages departments in schools and know what is required to make language learning relevant, interesting and engaging. During my time working in schools, I increased the popularity of Spanish threefold and achieved the highest results in the school in the 2019 exam series. I have extensive experience with exam boards including AQA, Edexcel and the Cambridge IGCSE, as well as AQA for A-level.
I am currently available to teach one to one tuition both in person and online throughout the week and on weekends. If you have any further questions or are interested in arranging an initial meeting, please do not hesitate to contact me.
To factor in travel costs, I will add £5 if you would like me to come to your house. For multiple groups of 2 people or more per lesson, I will provide a discounted rated of £25 per person. I accept cancellations with 24 hour notice, any cancellations on the day will be charged

Professional Profile
Hi, I'm Charlie, a passionate linguist and an avid traveller who believes in the power of enabling people to take their language skills out into the world to use in a real life setting. I am a strong, experienced and approachable leader and teacher who strives to develop a positive working environment whereby my students feel supported and able to aim for excellence. As an experienced French and Spanish teacher I am determined to show how inclusive languages can be and always believe in the importance of being reflective of my own practice. My experience of working with a wide range of leaners, ages and needs ensures that I am able to deliver personalised lessons and content to suit an array of learning styles. I am confident delivering lessons up to A-level in French and GCSE in Spanish but I have also taught adults from complete beginners level in both languages. I want to enable people of all backgrounds and abilities to thrive, learn and progress happily. I am fluent in French and English, with a strong level of written and conversational Spanish.
Charlotte is an amazing teacher. She has helped me develop lesson plans to teach primary language lessons. Her patience and knowledge is incredible. I would highly recommend her as a tutor.
Charlie is the ideal tutor for young learners. She is kind and compassionate and extremely mindful of pupils’ needs. Not only that, she is open minded and flexible. Anyone would be really lucky to be working with her!
Charlotte taught both my sons at secondary school. They responded positively to her engaging, dynamic and brilliant teaching. She soon built a great rapport with them, inspiring them to work to the best of their ability and making lessons interesting and fun. As a parent I was very impressed by her excellence as a language teacher and her genuine care that my sons reached their full potential. i wholeheartedly recommend Charlotte as a language tutor.
I thoroughly enjoy my Spanish lessons with Charlotte. She teaches in a practical and patient manner. The lessons are fun and I find she breaks down the lessons into manageable pieces. My Spanish has undoubtably improved since taking my lessons with her and I am gaining confidence every lesson with the language as a result of her.
Charlie is the kindest and most understanding teacher I ever had. If there was anything I was confused about, she talked me through it until I fully understood no matter how long it took for me to understand it. She was the one teacher who believed in me throughout and managed to get me a grade 7, even when I was predicted to get a 4! Thank you so much!!
Charlie was my teacher for GCSE French where I achieved a grade 7. When we first started together I didn’t enjoy languages and struggled with my confidence immensely, but throughout our time together it became a subject I was passionate about and excelled in.
She uses a diverse way of techniques suited to the individual, adaptable to each students’ abilities, and each lesson is very engaging.
She is the single most influential, patient, and compassionate teacher I’ve met who cares about her students.
I highly recommend.
Charlotte taught me French for my GCSE in 2020, and with her help I managed to achieve a grade 7, something I previously would never have expected to reach!
She is the single most patient teacher I’ve met, and was so supportive whenever I needed an extra challenge. Her focus on balancing out all four areas of language(listening, speaking, reading, writing) was instrumental in pushing my learning further and my French skills developed more than I thought possible in such a short space of time!
Highly recommend.
Charlie is the most supportive tutor that I’ve ever had, she listens and treats you like an indevidual, she never makes you feel stupid for things that you don’t understand and will always make time to explain things.
Patient, encouraging, and capable of explaining the complexities of learning a new language in really easy to understand terms. I’ve seen my learning really accelerate with Charlie’s help! This is the third language I’ve chosen to learn and she’s easily the best tutor I’ve had.
Charlie has taught our son French from year 8 up until year 11.
He is now displaying a very keen interest in the subject and wishes to pursue this in his further educational studies. We are naturally extremely pleased to witness these ambitions.
It is evident to us that this is because he finds Charlie’s teaching methods to be influential, enthusiastic and persuasive.
In our son’s words, she is fun, not boring, positive, and explains the subject in a way that engages with the students. He says that lessons are more interactive, varied and not just about writing things down on a sheet of paper!
It is perhaps possible that our son would have enjoyed the subject had Charlie not been his teacher, however we are convinced that her teaching methods have enabled our son to obtain the most he can from the subject and we hope this continues.
In summary it is our son who has said to us that Charlie “is willing to help and understand you”
As parents we can ask for no more than this and can only thank her for putting in that little extra bit of effort, which has made such a difference to his willingness to learn.
