My teaching method is primarily student-lead, though this may vary depending on student requirements. Not students which wish to be entered in for exams, and I take all options into consideration.
Lessons include covering cello technique and expression, some music theory, and learning performance skills.
Lessons are generally 1hour, though younger/SEN students may only require 30 mins, which is not a problem.
I am a professional freelance cellist, with a passion for exploring new ideas. I taught my first student when I myself was still in college, and have worked for music services around the West Midlands, as well as teaching privately.
I have been playing the cello for 35+ years, and am always learning something new!
I have a BA (hons) degree in music, and a Masters degree (distinction) in performance. I have used these to coach my advanced students through important recitals and exams.
I believe that learning an instrument differs for everyone, and it’s important to take into consideration how different people will learn. I myself have ADHD, and I use my neurodiverse skills to encourage students to learn in a way which works best for them.
I am lucky to have worked with many other professional musicians, gaining knowledge and insight which I am keen to share with other enthusiastic musicians.
