I am a gap year student who completed her A levels with 3 As in Chemistry, Biology and French. I teach AQA Chemistry. I give lessons to a range of different students and I am currently tutoring approximately 60 students in total, in groups, pair and one-to-one sessions.
For primary school and Key Stage 3 students, I teach the basics and spend as much time as needed on a particular topic until the student understands. I use PowerPoints and a whiteboard to illustrate my teaching, and towards the end of the lesson I give questions for the student to do to consolidate their understanding.
For GCSE and A level students, I generally teach straight from the textbook so that we can follow the specification as closely as possible. I place a heavy emphasis on past paper questions also as students often study hard, but are unable to apply their knowledge and complete questions to get full marks.
I have been teaching for almost three years. I started off by tutoring family and friends in the years below, and then continued to tutor even my peers in my own year. Finding that my tutoring was successful, I began to look for paying students who are now all propspering in their education, whatever year they're in.
The rate advertised is for GCSE students and above. However for primary and Key Stage 3 students, my rate is £15 if I travel and £10 if the student comes to me. For GCSE students and above, if they would like to have two hour lessons at a time, I do a discount of £5, making it £35 in total if the student comes to me. If I have to travel, it is £40 as opposed to £50.
As I was a studious pupil in Year 11, my Chemistry teacherasked me to tutor those in the year below and my French teacher asked me to tutor somebody in my own year. This is how I began tutoring.
