I am a biochemistry PhD student and am looking to teach GSCE and A-level student Chemistry. I am an experienced tutor, having given classes both formally and informally, and am passionate about both learning and passing on my knowledge. My teaching philosophy is simple: practice makes perfect. I use simple, direct problems to teach the methods and slowly add more challenge until I reach exam-level questions to truly test the student's understanding. This is not only a successful method for extra-curricular help, but also helps the student gain confidence as they manage to work through the questions.
Although I have been giving informal lessons since before I came to university, I began tutoring as a part-time job in my third year of undergraduate. I have taught multiple students, all of whom achieved marks above what they thought they could achieve alone and lasting confidence in their abilities.
I completed my undergraduate degree in Chemistry at the University of Southampton in 2015, during which I kept my study of mathematics going with optional modules. I then obtained an MPhil in analytical chemistry at the University of Manchester, focusing on spectroscopy and food chemistry, which led to me starting a PhD in biochemistry at the University of Liverpool in 2019.
