GCSE Maths, Biology, Chemistry and Physics tutor with experience, based in London.

Methodology

I usually structure my sessions based on topics chosen by the student, primarily focusing on weaker areas. I have a flexible timetable and can adjust the length/number of lessons as required. I am in an ideal position to understand students and communicate information to them in a manner which is comprehensible and meaningful. I am also able to provide valuable exam techniques to help them to perform at their highest level under exam conditions. I am friendly and approachable, and will take time to address the student's individual requirements.

Experience

I have several years of experience tutoring a number of GCSE students for their Maths, Biology, Chemistry and Physics exams and have received very positive feedback. I completed my A level exams in summer 2017 (Maths, Biology and Chemsitry grades A* A* A) and my GCSE exams in summer 2015 (11 GCSEs all grade A*). I will be taking up my unconditional offer to study Biomedical Sciences at UCL in September 2018. I am able to provide certificates to support my qualifications upon request.

Employment History and Work Experience

Tutoring, mentoring and babysitting (2015 – present, Various)
I have worked as a private tutor for students studying for their GCSEs in maths and sciences as well as being an academic mentor to younger students at my school. I have also worked as a babysitter for several families with children of various ages. This requires responsibility, reliability and a good relationship with the employer.

Selling Assistant (01/10/17 – 01/02/18, John Lewis, Westfield Stratford City, E20 1EL)
This customer-facing role has been an excellent opportunity to strengthen my skills in customer service, through interacting with an extensive array of different people in a manner which is both compassionate yet also effective in achieving the desired outcome and ensuring the customer is satisfied.

Hospital Work Experience (28/08/2017 – 01/09/2017, Princess Royal University Hospital, Farnborough Common, Orpington BR6 8ND)
During this placement I gained an insight into the running of a busy NHS hospital and an understanding of the roles and responsibilities of its employees.

Voluntary work – Care Home (18/11/2015 – 21/09/2016, Morden College residential home, 19 Saint German’s Place, London SE3 OPW)
Supporting the Activities team by running weekly entertainment, I helped to organise events, assisted residents with transport around the grounds, distributed refreshments and engaged in conversation with residents. This role highlighted the importance of building a strong working relationship with residents.

Voluntary work – First Aid (06/11/2015 – 01/07/2016, St John Ambulance Cadets, Brampton Road, Bexleyheath, DA7 4SL)
As a volunteer with St John Ambulance I learnt and practised a variety of first aid skills and attended events where St John Ambulance provided essential care to members of the public.

Hospital Work Experience (29/06/2015 – 03/07/2015, Queen Elizabeth hospital, London, SE18 4QH)
Shadowing doctors in the endocrinology department of an NHS hospital allowed me to experience the day-to-day workings of such a complex organisation and emphasised the importance of providing high quality service to patients at all points throughout their care.

Retail Assistant (Aug 2014 – Feb 2015, British Red Cross, 46 Vanburgh Park, Blackheath SE3 7JQ)
Through my regular voluntary work both on the shop floor and in the stock room I learnt a variety of skills, including: serving customers, working the till system, sorting/pricing stock, issuing/using loyalty cards, Gift-Aiding items, arranging display stock and merchandising. I developed my interpersonal skills through working as part of a team and interacting with a wide range of customers.

Welcoming Steward (Oct 2013 – Jul 2014, Sunfield’s Church, 95 Old Dover Road, Blackheath, London SE3 8SJ)
As a welcoming steward I greeted the congregation, distributed books, gave notices, took the collection, served refreshments and helped run children’s church. This role was important in interacting with the congregation and catering to their differing needs.
