I can give German lessons to students of any proficiency level as I am a native speaker. I can provide German lessons either in English or Serbian, while of course speaking as much German as possible in the lessons themselves. Whether the lessons are focused more on speaking, writing or reading depends entirely on the student's own goals. I myself have a passion for learning foreign languages and studied 4 foreign languages in school (English, French, Italian, Russian), which is how I picked up a lot about pedagogy in language learning.
German is my native tongue, alongside Serbian and Mandarin. I am a second-year student of Politics and Social & Public Policy at the University of Glasgow. I was born and grew up in Vienna for 18 years, where I graduated from the Sir Karl Popper school. I have a passion for learning languages, and apart from German, I fluently speak English, Serbian and Mandarin.
Having grown up in Vienna, German is my first language (alongside Serbian and Mandarin). I began studying English when I was 9 years old and have a proficiency level of C2 in English (I can provide my IELTS certificate as evidence of this). I graduated from the Sir Karl Popper high school in the subjects German, Maths, English, French (written examination) and English, Psychology, Philosophy (oral examination). Moreover, I wrote my high school VWA (research paper that is part of the high school leaving exams) on 'A comparison of multicultural education in the USA and the EU with reference to Austria'. This paper required me to engage in-depth with multicultural and multilingual teaching methods and provided me with theoretical knowledge about language teaching. The paper received a recognition award by the Viennese C3 Centre for International Development.
Katarina is honestly one of the most patient and innovative person I know
Katarina is a great tutor. She explains the concepts very lucidly and is a patient tutor. Her German is also extremely proficient.
In my opinion, nothing beats a tutor that has actually lived abroad and has communicated in the target language that one wants to learn. That is exactly the case with Katarina, she has lived more than sixteen years in a German speaking country and has therefore mastered the language completely. Wether it’s the most common phrases for small talk, particular sayings or even complex syntax structures, Katarina is always capable to help you learn German!
I went to an austrian school with Katarina for four years, so it is save to say that her german is absolutely on a native speaker level. She has a great work ethic without being overly strict and knows how teach something in a fun but informative way.
Katarina is one of the most intelligent and reliable people i know, you can really count on her and she has a very pragmatic, solution-oriented way of solving problems. This attitude, along with the fact that Katarina grew up trilingual and studied many languages mean that she knows the problems language learners face and she also knows how to solve those problems and master a new language.
