With regard to my teaching approach, I aim at instilling enthusiasm and determination in my students because that is, in my view, the secret of making the most of the tutoring lessons. I also aim at creating a relaxed environment in order for the students to assert themselves in a carefree manner. Moreover, every child undoubtedly learns at his own pace and in his own unique way and I, as a tutor, will do everything in my power to shape my lessons according to the student's needs and personality.
I am currently a first-year undergraduate student at Newcastle University studying German. I strongly believe that my passion for languages and constant involvement in foreign language activities throughout high school make me the most suitable person for tutoring. I tutor from primary level to A Level. I can help students prepare for German examinations taken within school or outside of it. (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages levels A1 - C2 ).
Languages have always been at the heart of my studies. The numerous contests I took part in are proof of my deeply ingrained passion for German. Winning the 2016 edition of Juvenes Translatores (a translation contest for 17-year-old pupils in the European Union organised by the European Commission's Directorate-General for Translation) is by far the most significant accomplishment of mine. By winning first prize in this European contest, I had the unique opportunity to spend three days in Brussels and see up close what it is like to work for the Directorate-General for Translation.
I participated in the Modern German Language Olympiad in Romania throughout high school, winning third prize in the regional phase in the ninth grade. The following year, I qualified for the national phase of the German Olympiad, being awarded third prize in the projects section and securing fourth place in the individual section in which the contestants had to write an essay in German. In the eleventh grade, I qualified again for the national phase of the Olympiad, winning second prize in the essays section.
I had been invited to hold an opening speech at LinguaFEST on the European Day of Languages last year, where I spoke about the importance of language learning, its effect on the human brain and the competitive edge multilinguals have on the jobs market.
