- Which subject(s) do you teach?
I teach German, and I am also happy to provide tutoring in Linguistics for any undergrads who are finding the subject difficult.
- Tell me about your qualifications.
I've just graduated from Oxford with First Class Honours in German & Linguistics. I achieved 11 A*s at GCSE, and 4 As at A-Level (in French, Spanish, German and English). I'm now studying for a Masters in Linguistics at SOAS.
- How much do you charge?
No extra fee for travel within Zones 1 and 2. Discount for group lessons and 2 hour sessions.
- Where do you teach?
I will teach at the student's home, preferably Hammersmith & Fulham, Kensington & Chelsea.
- When are you available?
I'm available weekday evenings, but am flexible about rearranging lessons for weekends if necessary.
- Which ages and levels do you teach?
I teach KS3, GCSE, A-Level and BA level.
- Do you have a personal message for students?
I'm a patient, friendly person who is excited about anyone wanting to learn German. My lesson style is very flexible - we can focus on specific needs, such as grammar, or pronunciation, or we can design lessons which include a bit of everything. If your classes at school are a bit dry, I hope I can make you more interested in the German language and culture - I've travelled a lot in the country and have read widely. Although my German is of a high standard, I am not a native speaker, but I think my experience of learning German in the British education system makes me an excellent choice for a student hoping to succeed in German classes.
- What kind of experience do you have?
On my year abroad I taught English to primary school pupils in Berlin for 10 months, and throughout my time at Oxford I gave English lessons to two young boys through the charity Jacari's home teaching scheme. I also ran teaching workshops for fellow students involved in the teaching scheme, so I'm good at inventive lesson planning.
- Do you have an up-to-date DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service, formerly CRB) Certificate?
No. (I had one when teaching in Oxford, but it is now out of date).
