Get in touch and Get help to achieve! I am a Dedicated English (GCSE 9-1) Tutor, very patient, passionate about students achieving their goals and gaining required qualifications!

Methodology

My Teaching method is based on active learning, to use visual props , powerpoint , presentations, videos, whiteboard and interactive boards, online game -kahoot, discussion and repetition to help with building vocabulary and writing techniques.
I would use previous past papers to show how other students were marked, this enables for students to understand expectations.
Generally, I would get to know my students, possibly start with a diagnostic, and some writing activities, this will help me understand levels and best way to plan their lessons.
Awarding bodies I have worked with in college settings are Edexcel, AQA and city and guilds.
I have been supply teaching since 2006, and have gained many skills , through those various experiences.

Experience

I originally worked in healthcare 1979-2006; then completed my BA honours in Education in 2006.
Since achieving my degree, I have completed PTTLS and TEFL, as well as already having a literacy specialism and level 3 all IT skills, study skills, biology, environmental geography,ESB(English speaking) as well as level 2 Maths, GCSE English, 0'level Literature and many other subjects.

I have been teaching in Further Education and sixth form colleges, I have mainly taught all English courses as well as some Maths at Entry/foundation level. I have also experience in teaching Retail and customer services vocational courses-progression learning.

Over past years to 2020

I have mainly been covering and working in various colleges as an English/Functional Skills
Lecturer.

Supported and tutored in Hub classroom at Maidstone College as an LSP -English and
Maths-(1-1 support and intervention) and cover English Teacher; I have enjoyed the position so much, that I now wish to apply for similar positions or a position that would offer the opportunity for me to make my mark and to make a difference.

Previous to my Teaching positions I have been working on nurse bank- Lewisham and
Greenwich NHS trust. I have also been teaching at Carshalton within the skills for work and life
Department.

Delivered lessons for functional skills (Maths and English) as well as delivering lessons for progression learning/vocational (customer service and retail). This position included work as a
Teacher/ form Tutor and being responsible for the close monitoring of students, working within
Health and safety-guidelines stated at the College. This involved the safeguarding of students,
Planning of lessons and organization of their field trips. I taught a small cohort consisting of 11
Students, they were a mixture of independent and non-independent travellers; all need in extra
Support due to their learning difficulties.

This includes Autism and other underlying health conditions. I have enjoyed this position and I
Have gained a lot of knowledge, which means I am now looking forward to
Working in other specialties within teaching.

Ideally, I would prefer a longer-term contract with a possibility of gaining QTS/QTLS, although this was not necessary when I completed my degree and specialism, I would still appreciate the
Opportunity to achieve teaching status (QTLS, QTS).

To gain further experience I would seriously consider most work within my area of expertise.

I have had many different teaching experiences and I have enjoyed them all; although very
Different.

In past years I have taught English at all levels- entry, Level 1 and Level 2, GCSE
Language and A Level revision-critically analysing and understanding text.

I have also taught- English, Maths and ICT /Functional skills and Key skills as well as vocational courses. I have also tutored students with Dyslexia and ESOL and various non-
Specific difficulties at all levels, included access students Level 3.

I have just completed this latest assignment, and I am now looking forward to a new teaching
Post; I have also just recently completed TEFL-Advanced- I would be happy to continue training and to update my teaching practices further.
