Glasgow based tutor for French, Italian, International Relations, History, Politics and Modern Studies.

Methodology

Every lesson is uniquely tailored to match the needs and interests of the learner.

For language learners I can incorporate a lot of cultural knowledge into activities. I have been a lifelong Francophile and have French and Italian heritage whilst also spending time in both France and Italy which has boosted my own understanding of the two cultures. I have tutored languages to young children and often use a fun approach with a variety of resources such as picture cards, match up exercises, songs etc. It becomes more complex for teenager and adult learners. I tutor in sync with a particular curriculum from schools or DELF/DALF, university curriculum, or according to my own material and what the student would like to learn.

For the humanities subjects that I teach, I can tutor in accordance with particular textbooks but can also supply my own referenced material.

Background

Hello! Bonjour! Buongiorno!

I'm Rana. I am currently a postgraduate research student specialising in International Relations and History. I have been tutoring since 2013 and teach a variety of ages and abilities. I have helped school and college students for exams, university students for academic essays, dissertations and exams, as well as those with general interest or those who would like a recap on a particular subject.

Details

I do not have a car so would only be able to tutor at your home if there are good public transport links to Glasgow city centre. I'd also welcome learners at my home in G21.

Should you need to cancel then please try to give me at least 24 hours notice. I understand that this is not always possible but please try to let me know as soon as you can.

I began unofficially tutoring through helping my younger siblings with their homework and then tutoring school friends and university friends. I have been a self employed tutor since 2013. I tutor a variety of people in several subject areas. I have taught languages to younger children, tutored several National 5 and Highers' students in English, French and History, tutored politics and International Relations to several university students as well as academic writing and referencing skills, and also adult learners in a variety of subjects (although namely languages). I have tutored one to one as well as group sessions. I am a confident and well organised tutor and am very comfortable tutoring all ages and abilities, which makes me a solid candidate for this position. The face to face nature of tutoring has further developed my communication skills over the years. Due to the variety of ages of the people I have worked with, I am good at adapting my language and style to suit my tutees. All of my lessons are uniquely tailored to the individual student or group and almost all of the content of the lessons are designed by me. I often provide homework and also mark it and deliver feedback.

Harry

Rana has been tutoring me in French for a few years now. She is highly knowledgable of her subject, and very approachable and friendly. Throughout my degree I have also consulted her help with politics and academic writing in general. I would wholeheartedly endorse Rana as a tutor on Superprof.

Antoinette

Rana is a loyal and dependable tutor who is always there for lessons, and on the one occasion she had to cancel, phoned me in advance and rescheduled for a time convenient for me. She gave excellent speaking practice and is fun and easy to speak to, and when something needs correction she explains thoroughly. She brought me along extremely well.
