I strongly believe that approaching literature with enthusiasm yields excellent results. I annotate, create workshop-style handouts, apply cultural theory to primary texts and commit to some free writing exercises to prompt creative thinking. I would agree that strategies such as key cards are highly useful for remembering specific quotations, but I would argue that lively, engaging conversations that facilitate an attentive approach to the subtleties of literary language are fundamental to successful learning.
I will graduate in 2020 with a Master of Arts (hons) in English Literature. I edit creative writing for GUM, have facilitated a number of workshops and have been published by The Poetry Society, From Glasgow to Saturn Journal, Gargouille Literary Journal and Speculative Books, among others. I am passionate about creative writing, cultural theory, critical analysis, poetry and creative nonfiction. During my time at university, I have also studied English Language and Linguistics, Celtic Civilisation and History of Art. The grades I achieved for the six modules I completed within the last year were straight A's. Prior to university, I attended York College, and studied English Literature, Psychology and Politics.
