I like to work together with the student to develop a teaching methodology that suits their needs and interests. For students who are preparing to study for their GCSEs/A Levels, I would seek to understand the syllabus they're studying and see where I can fill any gaps in knowledge to prepare them to succeed in their exams. For students who are looking for more general tutoring, for example, on essay writing skills, I would seek to review previous work a student has submitted to their teachers and set tasks to help a student turn the work around to reach their full potential.
I studied A-Level English Literature, English Language, and Religious Studies at A-level achieving A*AB. I studied English and Philosophy at the University of Sheffield and achieved a 2.1. After graduating, I worked in the UK Civil Service for 2.5 years. I then decided to make a career change and study for my Graduate Diploma in Law and Legal Practice Course at the University of Law, with the aim of qualifying as a solicitor.
I have previous experience tutoring English literature/language, essay writing (history, politics, university entrance exams etc.), and English as a second language (TEFL/TOEFL).
