My name is Helen Young. I am currently a graduate teaching assistant at The Heathland School. I believe every one has the ability to reach their potential and I want to be able to help you do that!
I have a relatively strict lesson structure I like to follow:
*A mini quiz or review to find areas to improve upon or to go over last week's session.
*Structured tasks like building a perfect paragraph or analysing sources or fill in the gaps to help improve your grade and build your confidence
*Fun games like key term bingo
My aim is to make sure you achieve your best, improve our confidence and get you the grade you deserve whilst (hopefully) having a little bit of fun along the way.
As I am currently a graduate teaching assistant, I have reached about 200 or so pupils that I work directly with for 40 hours a week. Of those 40, 20 hours have been devoted to assisting and teaching in English and History lessons. My pupils range from Year 7 to Year 11.
I know both the History and English GCSEs very well and aim to assist you in every way possible, from teaching you how to revise, to testing your subject knowledge and writing practice exam answers.
I am happy to take on any student regardless of level. I am also able to work with students whose first language is not English.
I may ask you to provide certain resources on your own if you have access to wifi and a printer.
Will study a History PGCE (Tecaher Training) at Worcester College, University of Oxford from September 2017.
MA in History from University of Edinburgh.
A* in History at A level.
As in History and English Language at GCSE.
