I like to approach learning in a creative way, using active methods such as games and flashcards to aid cognitive function and memory. For English Literature, I focus on the understanding of character and atmosphere through dramatic techniques (e.g Why does X feel this way? What would you do in this situation?), and then hone in on essay writing skills to express these points through excellent vocabulary and grammar.
I have experience with children from running theatrical workshops in schools for the past 3 years. I have been an academic mentor within my school, specialising in English and the Arts, as well as offering IGCSE Science and Maths guidance. Recently, I have just finished my International Baccalaureate diploma (studying English, Philosophy, and Theatre at a higher level, with Maths, German and Physics at a standard level). Due to the broad nature of the IB, I am confident in all of these subjects though I specialise in English, and would be more than happy to offer help in all of these areas. This Autumn I aim to start at Durham University to study English Literature (the #1 University to study English in the UK). Outside academia, I have been a member of the National Youth Theatre of Great Britain since 2015, and have achieved a distinction in Grade 8 in singing. I have performed in over 10 plays at my school, including the female lead in the musical Sweeny Todd last year.
