Hi, I'm a London based guitarist!
- Which subject(s) do you teach?
Guitar - rock, pop, funk, various african styles, classical and jazz for beginners, this can be mixed in with music theory, composition, harmony, analysis etc.
Students can choose whether they wish to learn with written music or not.
- Tell me about your qualifications.
I've just completed an MA in Jazz at the Royal Academy of Music in London, where I studied with the UK's foremost guitarists and composition teachers, including Pete Churchill, Barak Schmool, Mike Walker and Chris Montague.
I have completed a BA in Music & Linguistics at the School of Oriental & African Studies, University of London, (2008 - 2011) where I specialised in various styles of African music. I have studied Congolese guitar with master congolese guitarist Burkina Faso Mboka Liya, I studied Cuban music intensively for a month in Cuba, and also spent a month studying Mande West African music intensively over a month in Senegal and Mali. I travelled to Brazil in Dec 2012 to perform with Rhythms Of The City (Rio-style carnival bateria) and give workshops.
In 2016 I spent two months in Zanzibar, East Africa teaching guitar at a music school there, and learning local music & styles.

- Describe your arrangements for online tutoring.
I have a laptop with a webcam, speakers, microphone etc and am happy to conduct lessons through Skype.
- Do you have a personal message for students?
My aim is to teach you in way that allows you to carry on teaching yourself and learning, in the time between lessons, rather than simply completing tasks that are set, without understanding the concepts behind them. In this way music will become a source of joy and creativity!
- What kind of experience do you have?
I teach guitar and bass guitar at Riverside Secondary School in Barking,
I have 12 years of experience performing and recording with a massive variety of groups and in a whole load of different styles, taking in funk, folk, hip-hop, jazz, afrobeat, soukous, rock, pop, reggae, and more.
In terms of recording work - I have written for and recorded with the following groups -

Greg is a wonderful teacher, supremely talented, fun, patient and guaranteed to improve your playing
Greg is a fantastic guitar tutor and I highly recommend his lessons.
He is patient whilst also being encouraging, and has a very intuitive style of communicating the concepts and pieces covered. We covered a range of genres and I came away with a much more thorough understanding of the guitar as well as being a much better player!
