Hello there! I'm Peter and I am a friendly, professional guitar teacher in the Medway towns. Teaching and learning the guitar (and ANY instrument) is so much fun! Give me a call, pop down to my studio and make some noise!!
- Which subject(s) do you teach?
Electric Guitar, Acoustic Guitar, Classical Guitar, Bass Guitar, Jazz Guitar, Jazz/Pop Theory
- Tell me about your qualifications.
A Level Music, A Level Music Technology. RGT Grade 6, RGT Grade 7, RGT Grade 8 in electric guitar playing. Runner-up in Young Musician Of The Year.
- How much do you charge?
I charge £15 for a 1-1 half-hour lesson. I feel that hour long lessons are too much for even experienced players to cope with so I steer away from this. Included in the lesson, I provide all the equipment, lesson sheets and backing tracks for you to keep and practice with.
- Where do you teach?
I teach in my professional studio at Sharon Music, on Watling Street.
- When are you available?
I teach all week from around 6pm til 9pm.
- Which ages and levels do you teach?
I teach everyone! If you want to learn the guitar, why should your age be a factor of whether you should be able to have lessons?? All ages from 4 to 400!!
- Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
If my students want to gain qulaifications and get recognised for their efforts, I place them in RGT Guitar Exams which are accredited by London College of Music (LCM).
- Describe your arrangements for online tutoring.
In the near future, I will start teaching online for a reduced rate. In order for this to work successfully, communication is the key. So, just contact me if you would prefer online lessons.
- Do you have a personal message for students?
Yes. Don't take shortcuts; they're found at the butchers, so leave them there!
- What kind of experience do you have?
I have taught in a grammar school for 3 years, and have now been teaching professionally for 4 years.
- Do you have an up-to-date DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service, formerly CRB) Certificate?
- Where and with whom did you train?
I was also taught at Sharon Music, the exact same place as I'm teaching at now! I live on St Marys Island in Chatham, so if you're from around that area, I can provide lessons at my home or at Sharon Music.
- Do you belong to any professional organisations?
The Registry of Guitar Tutors (RGT)
- Tell me about some of your current students.
I have some real great students! They're all different and all have so much potential! I have youngsters playing me the 'Crazy Train' riff and I have older guys rocking out to Elvis. I have Jon, who is currently working towards his grade 4, his improvisation ideas are amazing (I like to 'borrow' some of his ideas at times!). I'm also helping him out where I can on his GCSE Music course.
