About the lesson
I am an enthusiastic music tutor located near Doncaster I have been playing since I was 7 and have recently completed a degree in Saxophone from Birmingham Conservatoire. Music is something I believe everyone should have access to.
- Which subject(s) do you teach?
I teach Music, with focus on saxophone, classical, beginner jazz or just for fun, I also teach music theory and am registered to enter pupils for ABRSM examinations if they wish. I can also help with general music history and harmony skills.
I also offer music workshops, in the past I have done workshops with young children introducing them to some instruments and the sounds they make and making drums and guitars and shakers for group activities.
- Tell me about your qualifications.
I have just completed a BMus (Hons) studying Saxophone at Birmingham Conservatoire, I also have a grade 8 in violin and a grade 6 in piano.
- How much do you charge?
I charge £15 per 30 minute lesson and £25 per hour lesson
Group lessons of two to three students at a time are available in hour sessions, at £10 per student
- Where do you teach?
I mainly teach at home, where i have an outbuilding I have soundproofed especially for practice and teaching, I will consider travelling a short distance to students, however travel costs would then be added to the lesson fees.
- When are you available?
My teaching schedule is fairly flexible, I am available most evenings and weekends at the moment.
- Which ages and levels do you teach?
Saxophone students must be a minimum of 9/10 years of age, I teach children and adults of any age beyond that. Theory students must be able to read and write.
- Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
I have personal experience of the ABRSM exam system and should you wish to take exams this is what I would recommend, however if you have a preferred board you have taken exams with in the past then this is no problem. Exams are a good marker for your progress however they are not essential, I currently have a mix of students both doing exams and not doing exams.

About Harriet
- What kind of experience do you have?
I have experience of teaching children from the age of five, through to adults. I have also done group workshops in a local school introducing the children to different instruments and where they come from. I have also taught through the organization 'Melody' which is an organization supporting people with special needs in their musical learning, so I am able to teach students with mild special needs. I have also been teaching in Birmingham for two years before relocating to Doncaster and have had positive feedback from several students.
- Do you have an up-to-date DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service, formerly CRB) Certificate?
I have an enhanced disclosure that was issued in December 2013
