About Tamara
I've always loved math since I was a child, so I was excited to study it in college and even more excited to go to graduate school for it! But graduate school was hard, and I finally started to understand that feeling I've heard students say of "I hate math". I tutored my peers in math when I was in high school, I tutored students of all ages while in undergrad, and in graduate school I even taught courses, so I've been tutoring/teaching for over a decade now. I truly love helping students grow in their math skills and confidence and am always happen to help a student succeed.

I always start my lessons by asking the student to explain the goal for the session (review for a test, finish an assignment, etc). Once I understand the student's goal, I share with them how we're going to accomplish the task in the time that we have. During the sessions, I always strive to make math approachable and encourage students, as I don't believe that anyone is truly "bad at math", some people just need more help than others.
When working with high school students, I focus more on explaining concepts in different ways, as the way they were taught in class might not be the best way for the student to understand.
For college students, I focus more on reminding them of similar skills or processes they've learned to help them become more confident in their abilities and teach them how to be successful on their own.
