Lesson 1: Learn what stage the student is currently at and discuss with the parents the expected end result. I take this away to design an approach for the students.
Lesson 2: Outline the approach with the parents and student and initiate the designed course. From this lesson I will set homework for the student as it is very important they also work in their own time.
Lesson 3: By this lesson I aim to understand the learning pace of the student and can estimate the effort needed to make the expected improvement.
I will update the parents every 2-3 lessons on the progress and can also produce a written report to document process if needed.
I have in the past modified the above approach to meet the student's requirements if they have any upcoming deadlines or examinations.
Engineering graduate with A* in Maths at GCSE and A-Levels offering tuition. In my first lesson I test the student in different areas (e.g. Alegbra, geometry etc. ). I also look to understand the student's learning approach and from there on design a specific learning course for each individual student. This has helped most of my students make considerable improvements whether they are in year 7 or year 11. I also aim to regularly liaise with parents with regards to the student's progress and highlight any areas which need key focus.
