I teach beginner and intermediate English for children. I try to get students talking as much as possible!
The whole session is conducted in English as this fully immerses the child in the languages.
I use songs, games, videos amongst other resources to get the child learning.
My name is Sarah and I am a part time tutor, alongside looking after a one year old.
I can help your child learn English! I am TEFL qualified but also a primary school teacher with over 3 years experience in an international school with most children speaking additional languages at home.
I start off with a needs assessment to work out what your child knows in English and what they need next.
Which subject(s) do you teach?
I teach English to children who are non-native speakers.
I also teach reading to children (native and non-native speakers).
What qualifications do you have?
I have a 100 hour TEFL certificate from TEFL.org.
I have a Master of Education (MEd) and also a PGDipED (PGCE Advanced) from Birmingham University. I also have a BA (Hons) in Education Studies from Exeter University. During my time of study, the education departments were ranked in the top 3 in the UK.
What is your rate?
I charge £20 per hour. I offer all of my students a free initial needs assessment.
Where do you teach?
I teach only online. This means I am able to work with your child and help them to close gaps in learning regardless of location or if you move location. Children are often more at ease using a computer, than having someone come to their house or having to go somewhere unfamiliar to get support.
How will online tutoring work?
I use a video conferencing tool called Zoom to teach online lessons. This is similar to Skype, but gives me greater ability to share my screen and deliver high quality resources to my students.
I have know Sarah for a number of years so we work at the same school. I have had the pleasure to watch Sarah teach on a number of occasions and was always impressed with the skill with which she delivered her lesson and her dedication to the children she has taught. I would whole heartily recommend Sarah to any parent looking for a tutor.
I would highly recommend Sarah as a tutor. I worked alongside her for a number of years, she is extremely professional and highly dedicated to her students. She will go above and beyond the call of duty to help the succeed. She has a very kind and caring teaching style and always wants the best for her pupils.
