I am a kind, creative, engaging tutor. Helping students make sense of a subject is of course the primary aim; helping them to enjoy it is a brilliant added bonus!

- Do you have a personal message for students?
Because every student responds differently to tutoring I tailor my style to fit each individual. My students and I overcome areas of real difficulty most effectively when they trust me. I hope to gain a tutee's confidence so that learning can become fun and collaborative, rather than a trial which is totally focused on testing.
- What kind of experience do you have?
I have been a tutor for 9 years, starting whilst studying, and tutoring a wide range of abilities including students with complex needs. Students of mine have gone on to gain A grades at A Level and are starting at Oxford and Cambridge this autumn. I have also helped younger students gain a place at their target schools post 11+ with success across all the major schools in London.

Helen was a fantastic tutor and thanks to her I achieved an A grade in Economics. Having always preferred quantitative subjects, my writing skills were severely lacking and these needed to be improved to get into university. Helen's guidance on essay structure and how to evaluate transformed my essay writing and allowed me to achieve 93%. I learnt more about essay writing in the short period in which Helen tutored me than I did in my schooling. I cannot recommend her highly enough!
Helen is an outstanding tutor! We contracted Helen to intensely tutor our daughter in preparation for her 11+ exams. Each morning Helen brought her natural enthusiasm to the classes. Our daughter found the classes fun and stimulating and over a three hour period that took some skill! We saw a marked improvement in our daughter's score over a short period of time. Our daughter achieved four offers from her target Schools and much of this achievement is down to Helen's dedication and enthusiasm.
We were totally surprised and thrilled on results day. My daughter
achieved 3 A grades in her A Levels - English, Spanish and Art. So,
thanks very much for all your good works in helping her achieve this... I'm sure you helpred her tremendously
I cannot thank you enough for all the help you gave my son. I know he feels that your tuition really did make a difference, inspiring him with the confidence and insight to gain the A grades he achieved in the exam papers. I would also like to commend you for your absolute dedication, no matter how demanding your busy schedule. Your professional enthusiasm for your subject was a joy to encounter and I cannot recommend you too highly!
I am a mature student...studying Russian at Novosibirsk state university, and AS economics in my free time...Helen helped me to improve my writing skills and essay structure tremendously. Her enthusiastic and passionate approach to teaching gave me the knowledge and self belief to overcome the problems I once had with writing. I have just received my AS results and I gained an A grade! I would highly recommend Helen to anyone looking to improve their English and/or Economics.
You always made the lessons fun and your love of literature helped me to look at the texts from a different angle. Thanks Helen, I am so happy with my recent success in gaining entry into Secondary School(s).
Helen tutored my daughter in the year leading up to her 11 plus exams. She worked with us in a residential capacity both in my family home and over our Christmas holiday in France. I would have no hesitation in recommending Helen Duff as a tutor for your child. She was both highly able and very hard working.
Helen provided our daughter with terrific support and guidance in preparing her for her English Language and Literature GCSEs and she really benefited from Helen's thoughtful and imaginative approach. The A* grades she achieved are a testament to Helen's skill as a tutor.
Helen's friendly approach inspired and enthused my son. He was unsure of what was expected of him in the 13+ exams but Helen reassured him and gave him a lot of confidence in his ability. She provided great frameworks to work with and read over before his exams and I felt that he was fully prepared. He gained an A in both papers- I would definitely recommend Helen; she made a real difference to my son's approach and was also very easy to communicate with when it came to his erratic schedule!
Helen is an outstanding tutor, displaying patience, enthusiasm, and devotion. She has used these various qualities to make each lesson unique and interesting, and thanks to her I have accomplished my goals and received offers from all the schools I applied for. I cannot thank her enough, and I would recommend her to anyone who lacks confidence in any particular subject from maths to literacy
