I teach photoshop to all different ages and levels. I use photoshop everyday as a professional retoucher, and bring this industry knowledge to my teaching. I love the process of continuously learning myself, whilst passing on my knowledge to others.
- Which subject(s) do you teach?
Photoshop is a vast software, and can be used for many different reasons. I can help you to understand the basics, to give you a good platform to progress from, and I can gear the lessons to the area you need. Sometimes, finding out what you need to learn is the most important part! For more advanced students, I can teach you industry standard techniques, and methods to speed up your workflow. Some areas you may wish to learn include :-
Photoshop for Fine Art
Photoshop for design (e.g. Architecture, interior design)
Creating a portfolio.
If you have an idea of what you need to learn, or would like to talk it through with me, feel free to get in touch!

Helen is one of our best tutors. They have a high-quality profile, verified qualifications, a quick response time, and great reviews from students!
- What kind of experience do you have?
I've been in the production industry for about 6 years. My background is in Fine Art photography, which I studied to MA level. My practice involved creating photo-real collages, and thats where my relationship with photoshop began. Until recently, I worked as a retoucher at a production company, where I retouched CGI and photography. Here I worked with automotive and product photography as well as CGI architectural visualisations. I recently returned to the freelance life to give me more flexibility, and leave me some time for teaching!
I've been teaching photoshop for about 8 years now, falling into it through community art projects after uni. I've worked with all age groups, both in groups and on a one to one basis. At the moment, I teach courses at Platform 39, and also have some regular one to one students.
- Do you have an up-to-date DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service, formerly CRB) Certificate?
My CRB is dated from August 2011.
- Tell me about some of your current students.
Some of my recent students include a fashion photographer, wishing to learn retouching skills, a print/textile designer and a film production company.

Helen is professional, competent and friendly. She covered a great deal of ground in a short space of time and we would highly recommend her.
I contacted Helen to help me with product photography for my online vintage furniture store. I needed help with the photography and also the photo editing in Photoshop. Helen was able to show me the essentials of photography, lighting and composition and also taught me a LOT about Photoshop, all in just a few hours.
Using Helen via Tutor Pages was so effective, everything was tailored to my requirements and my product photos are now looking great!
