I pride myself on being creative in the way I teach, to cater for the individual and various learning styles with tailored lesson plans and long-term goals.
Your aims are important to me, and this is something that I always discuss with students from our very first lesson. What genre would you like to sing? Which songs/composers/artists do you love? Are you preparing for an exam, wanting to improve your skills, build your confidence or just make music for the sheer joy of it?
Technique is a core element of my singing lessons; as singers it is so important that we take care of our instrument! Working with me will ensure that you always sing safely and efficiently; my classical training allows me to teach singing technique to a high standard.
I am experienced in preparing students for upcoming exams such as SQA and ABRSM; I know these syllabuses well and am passionate about providing school students the support they need to really excel in these examinations.
I have also had the pleasure to lead choirs and teach singing to small groups of singers; I would love if you and a friend(s) would like to have lessons together! (Even online, I am experienced in leading groups on platforms such as Zoom.) My lessons are all about experiencing the joy of singing that we share, in whatever way we enjoy the most!
I have studied Kodaly inspired musicianship for 6 years, have completed training with NYCoS and have experience in teaching musicianship to primary school children in a relaxed and fun way (think games and rhymes with actions, toys and imagination!) This arms children with all of the information they need to make music more successfully in later years. I wish I had been taught this way from the beginning of my training, therefore I am passionate about making this effective learning style available. My knowledge of Kodaly also extends to students of more musical experience which goes into more depth – but is still just as fun.
Any Lesson missed by the Student shall be paid for unless otherwise agreed with me. If I am unavailable to give any scheduled Lesson, the Lesson will be carried forward to another date. If this is not possible, any fee already paid will be refunded or used to pay for a future Lesson. The Student has a right to cancel this agreement within 2 weeks of the start date and will be refunded for any lessons which have not yet taken place; after the initial 2 week period, a notice of 2 weeks is also necessary from then on before discontinuing lessons.
